The Fourth Grade visited the Atlanta History Center to see the Library of Congress' traveling exhibit about Abraham Lincoln. This exhibit has been loaned to only five US cities, so our students are fortunate to have had the opportunity to see it! They saw artifacts and original documents from Abraham Lincoln, including a page of his math homework and the contents of his pocket the day he was shot.
The third and fifth grades saw the play The Hundred Dresses at The Centre for Performing and Visual Arts. Based on the Newbery Honor Book by Eleanor Estes, this endearing tale offers lessons on acceptance and the dangers of bullying.

Heritage is grateful for your participation in the Bing contest to win $100,000 toward a new gym. Because of your dedication, our entry climbed all the way to eighth place - only three spots away from advancing to the finals! Even though we did not move ahead, this contest raised awareness of a facilities need that we hope to address in the near future. This experience was also an outstanding educational opportunity for the student teams who created the contest video and photos. We plan to honor their effort by incorporating their work into our communication materials in support of the new gym project. Perhaps most importantly, the contest demonstrated the amazing power that results when we all work together as a community. Thank you! |

Ms. Gina's Physics students got to experience Newton's Third Law firsthand. During a classic balloon lab, they were able to understand that "for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction!"
Dancing Skeleton Contest The best dancers at The Heritage School are demonstrating amazing moves and incredible flexibility on the bulletin board in the Lower School Art Room. The Annual Third Grade Dancing Skeletons are currently on display through Friday, November 5. The exhibited works competed for prizes in three categories: "Best Dancer," "Most Accurate" and "Most Detailed." Winning artists (pictured, from left, Caroline Dieckmann, Madeline Horton, and Sovi Wellons) were honored at a celebration in the art room today. A real skeleton hangs from the rafters of the art room early in October to introduce human proportion and anatomy to the artists of Third Grade. It's a sticky and complicated enterprise to create a skeleton from cut pieces of white paper glued to a black background. Add to the challenge, each skeleton must be dancing! Come view the remarkable dancers performing the Funky Chicken, The Wave, The Egyptian, Cartwheels, headstands and more, now through November 5!
Photo Slideshow This was a busy week on campus, with the annual First Grade Pet Show, the Fall Concert, the Middle School football championship, and the Fall Carnival. Please take a look at our fantastic photo slideshow from these events.
